Tony Holmes is a Plastic and Reconstructive surgeon. A Melbourne University graduate, he qualified in both General Surgery and Plastic Surgery. He trained in both Australia and at Harvard, USA, and is qualified in both countries.

Tony is currently Senior Plastic Surgeon at the Royal Children’s Hospital. He was previously head of Cleft and Craniofacial Surgery until 2009 and the Director of the Department of Plastic and Maxillofacial Surgery from 1990 to 2003. Tony set up the Melbourne Craniofacial Unit in 1979 which is now a leading world centre.

Tony works privately at the Victorian Plastic Surgery Unit at St Vincent's Private Hospital, East Melbourne Campus (previously Mercy Private). He was a Consultant Plastic Surgeon at the Royal Melbourne Hospital (1978 – 1990) and remains an Honorary Consultant there and at the Royal Women’s Hospital.

Tony is a member of the Australian and American Societies of Plastic Surgery, the Asian Pacific Craniofacial Society, the Australian Society of Aesthetic Surgeons and the Australian Medical Association. He is the Founder and Board Member of Jigsaw Foundation (previously the Children’s Craniofacial Foundation of Australasia).

Tony's public hospital interests are basically paediatric plastic surgery, cleft lip/ palate surgery and craniofacial surgery. He also sees private paediatric referrals.

Tony's adult private practice is strongly biased towards aesthetic nasal reconstruction (rhinoplasty). He also performs some specific aesthetic facial, breast and abdominal surgery.

Tony has presented and lectured on cleft, craniofacial and rhinoplasty surgery over many years, both nationally and internationally. He is published extensively in peer reviewed journals. He has trained multiple national and international post-graduate Fellows. He was the Harvard Plastic Surgery Resident's Visiting Professor in 2012.

Tony's practice is by appointment only. Prospective patients will be required to get a referral from their general practitioner or an approved specialist before attending. He does not do any emergency cases and does not consult with patients via the internet.

Patient enquires are to be made via the practice manager, Raelene Park R.N., MBA.; Raelene will arrange all appointments. Raelene knows the procedures that Mr. Holmes does and does not perform: her plastic surgical nursing knowledge is extensive. Raelene organises all scheduling and financial matters and has considerable business qualifications and experience in practice management.
