Mr John completed his MBBS at the Christian Medical College in the state of Punjab, India in 1996. He obtained a Masters Degree in General Surgery in 2002, after serving at a Mission Hospital in Central India for 2 years. This was followed by a rewarding 4 year stint at another Mission Hospital in the foothills of the Himalayas close to the border with Tibet. He became a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in January 2013.

Mr John arrived in Australia in 2006 and worked for 12 months at the Lyell McEwin Health service, Adelaide. He then moved to Darwin and worked for 9 years at the Royal Darwin Hospital, where he assisted in establishing and managing the Surgical Acute Care Unit (SACU). He also served as the Director of General Surgery for 2 years before deciding to relocate his family to Albury.

Mr John's interests include colorectal, hernias, breast, thyroid and a broad range of surgical emergencies. He is GESA certified in gastroscopy and colonoscopy including endoscopic interventions such as oesophageal and colonic stenting and dilation of strictures.

Ajay also participates in Albury Wodonga Private Hospital's Open Access Endoscopy Service.
