I graduated from Melbourne University in 1989, further training in General Surgery at the Royal Melbourne Hospital and qualifying in 1998. My postgraduate training was in the United States learning sentinel node biopsy and reconstructive breast surgery in 1999.
I have private practices in Melbourne, East Ringwood, Coburg and Brighton. I regularly operate at Cliveden Hill and St Vincents Hospitals in East Melbourne, Ringwood Private Hospital in East Ringwood, John Fawkner Hospital in Coburg and Cabrini Brighton.
I am a member of the Breast Section of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, the Australasian Society of Breast Diseases and the ANZ trials group.
I enjoy unhurried consultations with my patients and their support persons, providing comprehensive care and understanding of their condition and optimal management. Surgically I place a great importance on achieving optimal cosmetic outcomes in benign and malignant conditions, including breast reconstruction. I work closely with my oncological, radiation oncological and plastic surgical colleagues in a multidisciplinary environment to optimise care and outcome. I strongly support the aims of the National Breast and Ovarian Cancer Centre and have trained as a facilitator in courses optimising patient care in difficult and confronting scenarios. I continue to educate my patients, training other surgeons, general practitioners , nursing staff and members of the community in the care of benign and malignant breast conditions.
