Michael Grace (Clinical Psychologist)

Michael is a Clinical Psychologist and full member of the Australian Psychological Society. He has 20 years’ experience working in Australia and the United Kingdom in a variety of settings including psychological therapy positions, acute adult mental health, assertive outreach and inpatient mental health. Previously Michael was the Senior Psychologist for the Tweed/Byron Health Public Service. He has a long tradition of developing/training other qualified Psychologists and trainee Psychologists. He has lectured in Psychotherapy at Griffith University. He provides Clinical Supervision and training to other Psychologists. Michael works to supportively challenge clients to make the changes they are seeking which will improve their psychological well being and resolve issues. He uses a range of approaches depending on a client’s needs from practical help through to promoting therapeutic understanding. These include Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Schema Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy and Narrative Therapy. He also draws upon Attachment Theory and Psychodynamic approaches. Michael has written two theses (research papers) on groups affected by trauma; Vietnam Veterans and Adult Survivors of Child Sexual Abuse. He has extensive experience working with people who have experienced traumatic events, as well as other psychological conditions. Michael enjoys trying to keep up with his two young boys and Springer Spaniel, Ruby. He also spends his spare time training to take on muddy obstacle challenges like Tough Mudder.
