Kirsten Black has been working as registered psychologist for 14 years and has worked as a counsellor in a variety of settings for the past 23 years. She has worked in roles as diverse as a rehabilitation psychologist, psychologist in management roles, a high school counsellor, telephone counsellor and is psychological supervisor for provisional psychologists. Kirsten’s areas of expertise and interest are depression, anxiety and stress, adjustment to injury, trauma including post traumatic stress, grief and loss, relationship issues, bullying and harassment and workplace stress. Kirsten has the ability to create a safe and supportive environment with a reflective, person-centred approach to her work. Kirsten uses a range of approaches tailored to the needs of the individual. These include acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) and mindfulness, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), solution focussed therapy and coherence therapy. She follows ASCA’s guidelines for individuals experiencing complex trauma. Kirsten is an approved counsellor for WorkCover, Victim’s Services and has a Medicare provider number.
