Qualifications: I studied psychology at University of Queensland and obtained my Honours degree in Psychology in 1993.I have worked as a psychologist for 20 years. Initially I worked for Kids Helpline and ParentLine as a counsellor and supervisor. I am a trainer practitioner in Triple P.
I worked for Relationships Australia for 4 years from 2004 to 2008, principally with couple and some families. Since 2008 1 have worked in private practice in a number of locations in Brisbane and more recently in Mackay.
I have worked with a wide range of clients over the past 20 years. I believe that clients are unique in their presentation, with a range of issues and abilities to cope with their challenges. Therefore I believe it is essential to have a good understanding of clients and their level of motivation, knowledge and potential for change. Some clients are looking for solutions and some are mainly needing support and it is therefore important to provide the most appropriate therapeutic support .
I use my discernment to determine how best to support my clients. I use a range of counselling modalities, including solution-focussed, narrative and interpersonal therapies as well as some mindfulness techniques.
I have an interest in working with couples and families. In previous practices I have seen a number of WorkCover clients and EAP clients. I have also worked with families who present with concerns regarding parenting issues or behavioural problems with their children.
