The Flinders Peak Medical Centre began as a single doctor practice in 1985 and was then called the Purga Medical Practice. It was established by Dr Michael Shera and Mrs Davida Shera.

The surgery has bulk-billed all Medicare-covered, GP consultations from its opening. It maintains its commitment to affordable, best practice, evidence-based medicine. It was one of the first surgeries in Australia to be accredited and has maintained accreditation ever since. We are currently accredited with GPA Accreditation Plus.

The Flinders Peak Medical Centre takes its name from Mt Flinders, the highest mountain peak in the Teviot Range of South East Queensland. Mt Flinders is the most striking feature of the local landscape and its base is just over 11kms drive from the surgery.
