Emily completed her Bachelor of Physiotherapy (graduating with honours) in 2005 at The University of Melbourne, her Master of Physiotherapy (Musculoskeletal) at The University of Melbourne in 2010 and in 2020 completed a Master of Clinical Education. She has worked at Carlton Physio since 2011 and is the current State and National Chair of the Educators Group for the Australian Physiotherapy Association. Emily has been a member of the APA since graduating in 2005 and became a titled Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist in 2011.
Emily is a strong believer in teaching patients how to self-manage, using a combination of manual therapy and exercise, along with education to ensure patients have a complete understanding of their condition. Her experience working with neurological clients in her early career has led to a focus on normalisation of movement patterns as the key behind her treatment techniques. As well as working at Carlton Physiotherapy Centre Emily regularly tutors on Australian Physiotherapy Association courses.
Since graduating Emily has worked in both the public and private hospital sector along with her private practice experience. She has worked with trauma patients across both their acute and rehabilitation journeys and has experience treating patients with a diverse range of neurological conditions. She has a special interest in the management of hip and lumbar spine and shoulder conditions, jaw/facial pain and headaches, as well as those with chronic conditions.
