Zee received his medical degree from Monash University in 2003 and has also completed a Masters of Public Health and Tropical Medicine through James Cook University. He worked in the hospital system for many years mainly in a major emergency department before switching to General Practice training.
Zee very experienced in Sports Medicine. He has worked as the club doctor for the Melbourne Demons AFL club since 2013 and is the current secretary of the AFL Doctors Association. In 2016 he has also commenced further specialist training with the Australasian College of Sport and Exercise Physicians.
Zee’s other passion is preventative medicine. He believes the role of proper nutrition, exercise, stress management and adequate sleep is paramount in the prevention and treatment of most chronic diseases including cardiovascular disease, diabetes, hypertension, fatty liver, polycystic ovarian syndrome and so on. He has successfully assisted numerous patients lose weight and maintain their weight loss with a well formulated personalised nutrition plan. He has given several public lectures exploring these themes and is in the process of developing a research study in this field.
Since the beginning of 2016 Zee has also been involved in medical education, teaching 2nd year medical students at Monash University.
Outside of work Zee likes to keep busy. He played cricket for over 10 years for the Malvern Cricket Club before more recently making the switch to competitive sprinting. His other interests include travelling, reading, watching movies and languages - he is currently learning Spanish. More recently he added “dad” to his list of credentials and enjoys time with his daughter.
