Dr Yuvaraj Malaiapan completed his subspecialty training in cardiology at Penang Hospital, Malaysia, subsequently undertaking interventional training at Monash Medical Centre, Clayton. He was appointed as Director of the Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratories and Interventional Cardiology, MonashHeart in 2005. Yuvaraj was the Head of Interventional Services, MonashHeart from 2007 to 2015.
Yuvaraj has won a number of Asia-pacific awards for his research in small vessel stenting and has published in the areas of coronary stenting and transradial left main percutaneous angioplasty. His areas of interest are in the care of patients with acute myocardial infarction, intravascular ultrasound especially of the left main stem and complex transradial coronary intervention. His non invasive cardiology interest is in the management of difficult to treat hypertension and metabolic syndrome.
