Dr Cathy Kan graduated in 1990 at the University of Toronto, and moved to Western Australia in 1992. Whilst in Perth she did family medicine and attained her fellowship from the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 1997. She joined Claremont Medical Centre in 2007.
