Dr Wayne Shipley brings an amazing array of skills from his background as a rural GP. He is an accredited skin cancer doctor from Skin Cancer College Australasia. He can perform skin checks, mole checks and complex skin cancer surgery. He has advanced training in indigenous health and anaesthesia including obstetric anaesthesia. He is also skilled at providing IV iron infusions for iron deficiency.


As a highly skilled and experienced rural generalist, Wayne has worked in rural and remote Australian hospitals and clinics, such as Charleville, Quilpie Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islanders clinic, Foster in Victoria and Carnarvon in WA. Wayne currently works part time as a Senior Medical Officer in the Emergency and Anaesthesia Departments at Beaudesert Hospital.


Dr Shipley regularly teaches and mentors medical students and junior doctors at the hospital. Dr Shipley has a part time role with the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine as a medical educator and a selection marker.


Wayne volunteered as a Commonwealth Games emergency response doctor working at the Belmont Shooting Facility. He enjoys watching rugby union, going snow skiing, travelling, scuba diving and watching his children play netball and cricket, whilst also volunteering as a sideline doctor.
