Graduated from the University of Sydney in 1991. After working as a Medical Officer for the Illawarra Health Service from 1992 to 1996, he completed a Diploma of Family Medicine in 1997 and became a fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 1998. He continues participation in professional development programmes, particularly in his special interests: preventative health, musculoskeletal medicine and chronic disease management, taken especial interest in diabetes and cardiovascular disease.
