Dr Liew completed his General Surgery training in 2005 before sub-specialising in upper GI and Bariatric surgery.
Dr Liew specialises in a diverse range of primary and revisional bariatric procedures for obesity and metabolic disorders (which includes laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy, revisional gastric band procedures, conversion to gastric bypass, reversal of VBG and BPD). He also performs upper GI procedures including laparoscopic hiatus hernia repair and fundoplication for gastro-oesophageal reflux.
He is also based at the Gold Coast University Hospital and The Tweed Heads Hospital with the full complement of a multi-disciplinary team providing specialised care for patients with gastric and oesophageal cancer.
Other advanced procedures performed include laparoscopic splenectomy and adrenalectomy as well as the common general surgery procedures (laparoscopic cholecystectomy (+ bile duct surgery) and laparoscopic groin hernia repair).
