Tim Whitehead is a Melbourne orthopaedic surgeon, recognised internationally, particularly for his research into anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction. His focus is on knee surgery, with a special interest in sporting injuries, as well as complex knee procedures such as re-alignment osteotomy and the management of the dislocated knee. His dynamic practice caters for a wide variety of people, from elite athletes to weekend warriors and the elderly.
Tim became a fellow of the Royal Australian College of Surgeons in 2003, and went on to complete two highly regarded orthopaedic knee and sports medicine fellowships in Canada, before returning to Melbourne to commence private practice in 2006. In 2008 he was awarded the APOA/ESSKA travelling fellowship where he visited and lectured at orthopaedic centres around Europe, and as a result is now a member of the prestigious Magellan Society.
Tim is heavily involved in research, and is a member of the OrthoSport Victoria Research Unit. He has won several awards for research and speaks regularly at local and international meetings. His current research projects include a study into the long-term outcomes of anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction.
