Dr Timothy Elliott (Gastroenterologist)

Dr Tim Elliott is a consultant gastroenterologist who joined The Specialist Centre in 2014. Tim has regular gastroscopy and colonoscopy sessions at St John of God Hospital Ballarat and also performs gastroscopy and colonoscopy at Maryborough Hospital. Tim reports on small bowel capsule endoscopies. He also works in the public sector at Ballarat Health Services and in the Inflammatory bowel disease clinic at the Royal Melbourne Hospital.

Tim graduated from the University of Melbourne Medical School and then underwent physician and gastroenterology training at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, the Austin Hospital Liver Transplant Unit and St George Hospital, Sydney. Tim then worked in the UK at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals where he undertook research in Crohn’s disease pathogenesis, which led to completion of his PhD through the University of Melbourne. He was then awarded a colonoscopy fellowship by the Gastroenterological Society of Australia (GESA) which he completed at St Mark’s Hospital London, an internationally-renowned tertiary referral centre for colorectal diseases. Tim has a research interest in inflammatory bowel disease and colorectal cancer screening, and has published and presented his work in peer-reviewed journals and at international scientific meetings.

Tim is a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians, a member of GESA and his gastroscopy and colonoscopy training is fully recognised by the Australian Conjoint Committee of Endoscopy.
