Dr Shah was born in Pakistan and raised in Nigeria and came to Australia when he was 18. He studied medicine at the University of Tasmania, graduating in 1994 and completed his internship at Burnie regional Hospital in Tasmania. Dr Shah has worked extensively in rural and remote areas in Tasmania, Queensland and Victoria, including the Royal Flying Doctors Services in Port Hedland, Meekatharra, Derby and Kalgoorlie.
He has been working full time in General Practice for many years with a special interest in a holistic approach to medicine.
He is conversant in English, Urdu, Punjabi, Hindi, French and Hausa.
