Specialist fields and passions: Swati sub-‐specialises in Paediatric Ophthalmology with a special interest in Paediatric anterior segment conditions and retinopathy of prematurity. She also specialises in comprehensive adult ophthalmology including Cataract, Glaucoma, eyelid malposition, hemi facial and blepharospasm.
Previously: Swati completed her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery in 2003 and Ophthalmology training in 2008, before moving to Australia. Since then, she has worked at Royal Adelaide Hospital, Lyell McEwin Hospital, The Queen Elizabeth Hospital and Flinders Medical Centre and was awarded as a Fellow of Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists in 2015. She completed a fellowship in Paediatric Ophthalmology, a clinical specialty she is passionate about, at Princess Margaret Hospital, Perth in 2016. Swati is now a consultant ophthalmologist at Lyell McEwin Hospital.
Research and teaching: Swati enjoys formulating new ideas and is actively involved in research. She has published in numerous peer-‐ reviewed journals. Her current projects include accidental and non-‐accidental eye injuries in children. Swati is actively involved in teaching and education of general practitioners, medical students, postgraduate trainees, optometrists and ophthalmic nurses.
The other side to Swati: With her professional commitments, one young child and her husband Ninad, Swati is kept pretty busy. On her time off she loves cooking, travel and enjoys watching cricket with her family and friends. She is also a keen badminton player when her busy schedule allows.
