Dr Surein Arulananda (Medical Oncologist)

Dr Surein Arulananda completed his medical degree at the University of Melbourne in 2009 and subsequently obtained his Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in Medical Oncology in 2017. He is currently completing a laboratory based PhD at the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Research Institute in malignant mesothelioma. Surein has been the recipient of several awards, including a prestigious International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC) Academy Award, He has published multiple peer-reviewed manuscripts in journals, such as JAMA Oncology and the Journal of Thoracic Oncology. He has presented his work at national and international conferences. Surein has his major interest in thoracic malignancies, melanoma, gastrointestinal oncology and genitourinary oncology. As a clinician-scientist, his passion is incorporating the latest therapies into treatment plans for patients. He balances this with a holistic approach, which aims to provide patients with care that optimises their quality and quantity-of-life.
