Steven graduated with Honours from Monash University in 1997 and completed surgical training at the Austin hospital Melbourne. He obtained his Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2007 and went on to fellowship training in upper gastrointestinal surgery at Queen Mary Hospital, Hong Kong.
Steven has worked as a consultant surgeon since 2009 and continues to work in both private and public systems. He operates at Knox Private and Cotham Private hospitals, together with Maroondah and Angliss public hospitals.
