Dr. Gilchrist is new to Sportsmed Biologic, however, he has been actively involved in sports medicine for the past 6 years. He has a background in Emergency Medicine and moved over from Scotland in 2013. He has also spent time working with various sports, including VFL & AFL clubs since arriving in Melbourne. He is currently the Head Doctor for the Northern Blues VFL club and regularly assists the Carlton AFL Medical Team.
Steve has a particular interest in concussion management and acute injuries. He is also developing an interest in the management of more chronic conditions, including degenerative joint disorders and osteoarthritis.
Steve is currently consulting on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays at SportsMed Biologic. He otherwise keeps busy by working at The Alfred Emergency & Trauma Centre; surgical assisting with various orthopaedic surgeons; and providing medical coverage for various sports events, including motorsports.
In his available free time, he keeps active by taking part in Crossfit, spending time with his wife and friends, and exploring the culinary delights of Victoria.
