Dr Stephen CattanachMBBS FRANZCOG is an experienced consultant interested in infertility and obstetrics. He completed his medical degree at the University of Melbourne and his clinical training at the General Hospital of Heidelberg and the Austin Hospital in Victoria. After spending 18 months practicing in Ireland, Dr Cattanach returned to Australia to take up a position as a Clinical Lecturer and then Consultant in Gynaecology and Obstetrics at the Mater Mothers’ Hospital, Princess Alexandra Hospital and Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Hospital.
In 2000, he set up in private practice at the Mater Mothers’ and Mater Private Hospital, and spent a year working at Monash IVF at Sunnybank Private Hospital. He is currently a Visiting Medical Officer in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the Mater Mothers’ and Adult Hospitals, Greenslopes Private Hospital and Sunnybank Private Hospital. Dr Cattanach joined Assisted Conception Australia in 2008 and his interests include Obstetrics and Gynaecology, infertility, laparoscopic surgery and pelvic floor surgery: he also assists in the training and development of Obstetrics and Gynaecology in neighbouring countries.
He is a fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and was secretary of the Queensland branch from 2005-2006. He is also a member of many fertility and gynaecological associations and societies including the Fertility Society of Australia, Australian Medical Association, National Association of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and the Pacific Society for Reproductive Health.
