DETAILED BIOGRAPHY

Sophie was born in Hong Kong and educated in Sydney. She graduated from Medicine with First Class Honours (University of Sydney) and achieved First Place in Final Year Medicine.

During her Internship and residency at Concord Hospital Sophie was awarded the prize for "Most Valuable Intern of the Year". Basic and advanced training in Endocrinology at Royal North Shore Hospital 2003 became a fellow of the Royal Australian College of Physicians (RACP) As part of her endocrine training, Sophie undertook basic science doctoral research in the field of growth factors, fat cells and diabetes at the Kolling Institute of Medical Research at Royal North Shore Hospital.

2006 Awarded Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from the University of Sydney While completing her PhD, Sophie consulted as an Endocrinologist in private rooms. In 2005, she was appointed as a staff specialist in Endocinology, Metabolism and Diabetes at Royal North Shore Hospital where she gained substantial experience managing difficult and complex endocrine problems. Her areas of interest include adolescent transition in Type 1 diabetes and insulin pump therapy for Type 1 diabetes.

2010 Awarded a Masters of Medicine in Clinical Epidemiology from the University of Sydney Sophie has published scientific papers in international medical journals such as Journal of Endocrinology and Metabolism, Thyroid and American Journal of Physiology – Endocrinology and Metabolism and Diabetologia

Hormone Health and Diabetes education is primary to Dr Sophie Chan. Sophie is involved in teaching medical trainees, nursing and allied health staff. She also gives public seminars and workshops to GPs and patient groups. 2010 completed Yoga teacher training at Samadhi Yoga, accredited by Yoga Alliance (RYT200)
