Sophia is a Melbourne-trained Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon, with international experience. She obtained her Dental and Medical degrees at the University of Melbourne, before completing advanced training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Following award of her speciality fellowship (FRACDS(OMS)), Sophia chose to undertake further subspecialisation in orthognathic ('corrective jaw') surgery and maxillofacial trauma surgery at The Royal Melbourne Hospital (2012), and at The Oxford University Hospitals Trust, United Kingdom, where she was the Senior Clinical Fellow in: orthognathic and maxillofacial trauma surgery, salivary gland pathology, and head and neck oncology (2013-2014). Since her return, Sophia has commenced private practice in Melbourne, and has appointments as an Oral and Maxillofacial Consultant at Monash Health, the Royal Melbourne Hospital, and the Royal Dental Hospital of Melbourne. She plays an active role in teaching and examining maxillofacial registrars, medical, and dental students.
Sophia strives to care for all her patients with compassion and integrity. Her practice includes the full scope of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, including: dento-alveolar surgery, implantology, and management of maxillofacial trauma. She has a keen interest in orthognathic surgery; and is looking forward to participating in voluntary overseas surgical aid programs with her husband who is a Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon.
Sophia has two children, and outside of work she loves family time, photography, travel, architecture, and music.
