Dr Shirley Elkassaby studied medicine at Monash University and completed her Endocrinology training through Southern Health, Peninsula Health and in the UK. She completed a PhD in diabetes and vitamin D at the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research.
She currently has public hospital appointments at The Royal Melbourne Hospital and Eastern Health (Maroondah Hospital, Box-Hill, the Angliss and Yarra Ranges) and is involved in teaching medical students and physician trainees. She consults in all areas of endocrinology and has an interest in thyroid disease, type 2 diabetes, pituitary disease and osteoporosis. She is a member of Australian Diabetes Society, Endocrine Society of Australia and Royal Australasian College of Physicians.
