Dr Sharon Chu is a Plastic, Reconstructive and Hand Surgeon.
She obtained her medical degree in 2003 from The University of Western Australia, before completing further specialist training in the areas of plastic and reconstructive surgery in 2014.
She became the Australian Society of Hand Surgeon’s inaugural hand surgery fellow after undertaking an 18-month fellowship in hand, wrist, peripheral nerve and microsurgery combined with plastic and orthopaedic surgery. During this time Dr Chu consolidated her surgical fitness in hand and wrist surgery, training under eminent hand surgeons at Royal North Shore Hospital and Macquire University Hospital, Sydney.
Dr Chu treats all elective and acute conditions of the hand and wrist, inclusive of hand and carpal fractures, common hand conditions – trigger finger, Dupuytren’s disease and complex problems of wrist pathology such as TFCC year, Keinbock disease. She accepts both private and worker’s compensation patients.
Her special interests are minimally invasive hand and wrist surgeries, brachial plexus, peripheral nerve surgery, upper/lower limb reconstructions. Skin cancers and general (post-oncological resection) soft tissue reconstructive plastic surgery also make up a significant part of her work.
