Dr Shameer Ahmed has been in the medical field for 17yrs, specialising in the field of cardiology for the last 7 years. He has trained and worked in various locations throughout the world, including the United States of America, United Kingdom, India and Australia. ​ While in England, he obtained the prestigious qualification of MRCP.

In the USA, while working in the Lehigh Valley Health Network in Pennsylvania, he received the "Stephen A. Renner award for Excellence in Cardiology" for demonstrating outstanding knowledge and clinical skills. ​ He specialised in the area of Electrophysiology at the Penn State Hospital, USA, performing procedures such as; Pacemakers, implantable cardiovertor defibrillator, bi-ventricular device implantation, electrophysiological procedures such as; electrophysiology studies, radio frequency ablation, SVT and atrial flutter. Invasive and non-invasive management of atrial fibrillation. ​ He moved back to Australia with his family in 2014 and continued to further his training as an Electrophysiologist at the Princess Alexander Hospital in Brisbane. ​ He is a staff specialist in Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital performing Ablations for Cardiac arrhythmias and Cardiac electronic device implantations. ​ His interests are General, Clinical Cardiology and Electrophysiology. ​ When he is not in the hospital he likes to spend time with his family, cycling and hiking.
