Dr Fanning graduated Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery with First-class Honours and was awarded a University Medal from the University of Queensland.
After Physician training at Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane, Dr Fanning completed his Fellowship in Gastroenterology and Hepatology with appointments at Launceston General Hospital, Princess Alexandra Hospital, Concord Repatriation General Hospital, and Westmead Hospital.
He was fortunate to spend two years in prestigious Interventional Endoscopy Fellowships in Sydney. Firstly as the Endoscopic Ultrasound Fellow at Concord Repatriation General Hospital and then as the Interventional Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Fellow at Westmead Hospital. During that time Dr Fanning gained extensive experience in routine gastroscopy, colonoscopy, and capsule endoscopy, as well as complex polypectomy and endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR), gastrointestinal and pancreaticobiliary endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) including tumour staging and fine-needle aspiration, endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), endoscopic stenting and palliation of malignancy, and other aspects of diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy.
While Dr Fanning have a special interest in lumenal Gastroenterology and Interventional Endoscopy, he is available for consultation and management of all Gastroenterology issues.
