Dr Saumitra Seal graduated from Sylhet Osmani Medical College at University of Chittagong in Bangladesh in 1989. After graduating he spent 4 years in various Hospitals in Bangladesh and 2 years at the University teaching Hospital in Lusaka, Zambia, doing his traineeship and residency. He worked as a senior/principal Medical Officer in South Africa in 1995 where he spent 7 years. He trained in family medicine & anaesthetics, and completed a Masters of Family Medicine, and a Diploma in Anaesthetics while working in South Africa. In 2000, an AMA representative at the WONCA congress in Durban offered him a GP position in Kalgoorlie, which he accepted. A year later he moved to Collie where he completed a 5 year overseas trained Doctors scheme. He received fellowship from the Royal Australian College of GP’s in 2007. He joined Claremont Medical Centre in 2012.
