Clinical Interests: Sarah enjoys seeing children from newborn to 18 years of age with acute or chronic medical conditions. She has a special interest in twins and multiples. She has considerable experience in the assessment and management of asthma, developmental delay, growth concerns, autism and ADHD.
Background and Experience: Sarah is an experienced general paediatrician who has worked in paediatrics since 2003. She studied medicine at Monash University in Melbourne and has strong links to the south eastern suburbs.
As well as working at Melbourne Children’s Clinic, Sarah is a consultant paediatrician in the General Paediatric Department at Monash Children’s Hospital in Clayton. She is looking forward to the opening of the new building in 2017 and the opportunities for excellence in paediatric inpatient care. Sarah has an interest in education and supervision and is on the organizing committee for the annual Monash Children’s Hospital Paediatric Update – Clinical Conundrums. She is also involved in committees on Risk and Clinical Quality and Safety. Sarah is also the mother of three young boys.
Practice Philosophies: Sarah is committed to patient and family centred care and is keen to advocate for the best interests of children. She has strong relationships with paediatric sub specialists and allied health professionals including psychologists, speech therapists and dietitians. Sarah is a believer in the strength of multidisciplinary assessments and coordinated care to ensure optimal outcomes for children. She believes in celebrating individual difference, developing strengths and appropriately supporting weaknesses to allow all children to shine and develop a sense of achievement and self esteem.
Research Interests: Sarah is a firm believer in evidence based medicine and is a peer reviewer for the Journal of Paediatrics and Child Health. She also has a strong interest in resuscitation and teaches on both the Resus 4 Kids and Advanced Paediatric Life Support courses several times a year. She is an examiner for medical students and paediatric fellowship exams.
