Dr Sarah Aitken is a vascular and endovascular surgeon. Sarah is a surgeon at Concord Repatriation General Hospital and Strathfield Private Hospital. Dr Aitken also consults with patients at Drummoyne Advanced Specialty Services, Drummoyne. Dr Aitken has been appointed as a Senior Lecturer at the University of Sydney. Her professional and research interests are on the impact of ageing in vascular surgery. She strives to utilise a best evidence based practice with a focus upon improving health outcomes in all patients. Dr Aitken offers aneurysm repair (open and endovascular) with a special interest in endovascular treatment of thoracic aneurysms, peripheral arterial interventions and ulcer management, as well as other vascular surgical procedures such as varicose vein surgery including laser varicose vein surgery and injection sclerotherapy. Her practice also includes management and treatment of deep venous thrombosis (DVT) and complications, lymphoedema, thoracic outlet syndrome and diabetic foot complications. Her surgical training has taken her to many locations, including New Zealand, Canberra, Regional NSW and Sydney. Dr Aitken gained her Fellowship in Vascular Surgery from the Royal Australian College of Surgeons in 2013. She is currently undertaking her PhD on the outcomes of surgery in elderly vascular patients. Dr Aitken is the inaugural recipient of the Royal Australian College of Surgeons Senior Lecturer Scholarship and the University of Sydney Medical Foundation Chapman Bequest for this research.
