Dr Samara graduated from Flinders University in 2009 and moved to the Gold Coast to complete her residency at Gold Coast Hospital, spending her time in paediatrics and the emergency department. Samara had two children during that time and is now juggling part-time work with motherhood, something she has in common with many of her patients.
Special Interests and Expertise Dr Samara loves the variety of General Family Medicine. In particular she enjoys getting to know families and following up on the health of children as they grow up, providing continuity of care. Samara has found her emergency and paediatric background to be an invaluable resource for parents. She is usually able to put concerned parents at ease having treated many seriously unwell children over the years. Dr Samara has personally experienced the process of antenatal care on the Gold Coast and enjoys advising expectant parents on the ins-and-outs of the system.
Dr Samara promotes preventive health measures and actively encourages health checks. Whether a patient is entering a new stage of life, is worried about a particular aspect of their health or simply want to ensure they are in good health, she can recommend blood tests and other tests as required. Samara promotes lifestyle modification, smoking cessation and risk factor modification to achieve health goals and tackle pressing health issues such as obesity. Dr Samara also enjoys the variety of acute care which includes patients who need to be seen on the day with a variety of different health complaints.
