Dr Saleem Loghdey is a Dermatologist who moved to Australia from the UK in 2013. He grew up in South Africa where he did his undergraduate medical training at the University of Cape Town qualifying in 1995. After doing his internship in 1996 he worked as a Senior House Officer / Medical Officer in General medicine/ Rheumatology for two years at Groote Schuur Hospital in Cape Town. The exposure to connective tissue diseases stimulated his interest in dermatology.
He subsequently started his training in Dermatology at the University of Stellenbosch, Cape Town in 1999, becoming a Fellow of the College of Dermatologists of South Africa in 2003. After a short stint in private practice in Cape Town he worked in Pediatric Dermatology at Red Cross Children’s Hospital in Cape Town for 6 months.
Saleem relocated to the UK in 2004 gaining his CCST (UK) in dermatology and worked as a Consultant Dermatologist in the NHS until the end of 2010. He was then selected to do a 12 month Mohs Micrographic Surgery / Dermatological Surgery/laser Fellowship at the prestigious Oxford Dermatology Skin Surgery Unit in 2011.
In 2012, Saleem was again selected for a further 12 month Fellowship in advanced Mohs Surgery / Dermatological Surgery / Laser Surgery, at Nottingham Dermatology unit in the UK. During his training in Nottingham he gained extensive experience in treating Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans and has published on this subject.
He completed his requirements for Fellowship of the Australasian College of Dermatologists in 2014. He currently works in NSW in Kiama, Miranda and The Skin Hospital at Westmead.
His dermatology special interests include skin cancer, pediatric dermatology, connective tissue diseases and dermatopathology.
