Dr Roland completed a Bachelor of Science degree majoring in Pharmacology and Biochemistry at the University of Melbourne in 1967. He subsequently obtained his PhD in pharmacology in 1972. He worked as a Lecturer in Pharmacology at the medical school of the University of Otago in Dunedin, New Zealand from 1973 - 1975, then returned to the University of Melbourne to study Medicine, graduating in 1980. After a short stint in England doing research in Clinical Pharmacology, he returned to Australia and has worked continuously in General Practice in Victoria, South Australia, NSW and Queensland. Dr Wheeler practices as a Specialist GP.
His main interests are in all fields of General Practice, Clinical Pharmacology and General Medicine, particularly Diabetes and High Blood Pressure. He also teaches Medical Students from Griffith University
