Dr Roger Woods is an experienced Plastic Surgeon based in Adelaide, South Australia. Dr Woods performs both reconstructive and cosmetic surgery, with an emphasis on skin cancer and reconstructive surgery, and cosmetic surgery to the face, gynaecomastia and breast reduction.
Dr Woods believes in empowering the patient in the decision-making around their care, through sufficient time and explanations. With the support of the Plastic Surgery Central team, he endeavours to provide a supportive, safe and comfortable environment for care. He offers minimally invasive and short scar techniques where possible to manage concerns of the face, breast and body.
Dr Woods completed medical school at the University of Adelaide in 1998 and was awarded fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2007. Additionally he spent 2 years in Oxford, United Kingdom where he completed a fellowship in Craniomaxillofacial surgery, enhancing his skills in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery of the face. During this time, he also worked in one of the key Sarcoma care units in the United Kingdom, and developed skills in bone and soft tissue tumour treatment.
Dr Woods has been heavily involved in training younger doctors and plastic surgeons, including many years on the national training board in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery for the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. He has an honorary Senior Lecturer position with the University of Adelaide in recognition of his ongoing research and training of medical students. Dr Woods has also published research in the area of sarcoma care and was a lead author in the national guidelines for Sarcoma care (Reconstructive Surgery component).
Dr Woods currently practices at Plastic Surgery Central in Dulwich, South Australia and undertakes operating lists at on-site Central Day Surgery, Calvary Adelaide and St Andrews Hospital. He also regularly visits the Riverland Regional Hospital in Berri – he has supported the Riverland and Mallee community in this role for over 10 years. He is a member of the Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons.
