Roger is a paediatric rheumatologist who was central to the establishment of the rheumatology program at The Royal Children's Hospital. A graduate of the University of Melbourne, Roger undertook training in general paediatrics at The Royal Children's Hospital before completing his training in paediatric rheumatology in both Canada and the United Kingdom where he trained with two of the founders of paediatric rheumatology as a subspecialty, Drs Ross Petty and Barbara Ansell . He returned to Melbourne in 1990 to head up the rheumatology service at the Royal Children's hospital and has been active in both private and public practice since that time. He has been the guest speaker at a number of international rheumatology societies and lead investigator in multiple clinical drug trials in juvenile arthritis. In addition to his role at RCH Roger has established a number of rural clinics (currently Geelong, Wangaratta and Numurkah) and maintains a suburban practice in Ringwood.
