Rod Jacobs attended Melbourne University where he played rugby and in his spare time studied for degrees in Science and Medicine. He undertook clinical training, residency and surgical training at The Royal Melbourne Hospital gaining his surgical fellowship in 1993. He then worked as a surgeon in Sydney and London before returning to Melbourne in 1997. He has been seeing and treating patients in the Sunbury, Gisborne and Riddells Creek area for nearly 20 years.
Specialising in endoscopy, gastrointestinal and hernia surgery, working in both the public and private systems, he holds appointments with the Western Healthcare and Mercy Hospital networks and the Epworth Hospital group, Mr. Jacobs has particular expertise in hernia surgery, he regularly conducts training courses for other surgeons on laparoscopic and open hernia repair and abdominal wall reconstruction
