Bob Newman has been in practice in Cardiology in the western suburbs of Melbourne for the last 36 years. He has recently retired from his position as Consultant Cardiologist at Western Hospital after 35 years. He was the initial Director of Cardiology at that hospital being appointed in 1997. Dr Newman continues in private practice in Footscray and with HeartWest in Williamstown and St .Albans. His main areas of interest include atrial fibrillation, chronic heart failure, hypertension and valvular heart disease. He is a current board member of The Australian Centre for Heart Health [formerly Heart Research Centre ] in the not for profit sector. He is also active in community activities as a member of The Rotary Club of Footscray.
