Dr Robert Burns studied at the University of Queensland and graduated in 1991. Over the next 4 years he undertook a broad range of training in a number of specialties at the Royal Brisbane Hospital. In his final year there he was entrusted with the role of a Medical Registrar, doing both general and sub-specialty rotations.
In 1995 he was an In House Medical Officer at the Sunnybank Private Hospital spending 6 months assisting in surgery and the intensive care unit.
Dr Burns then moved to Tara, a small country town 3 hours drive west of Brisbane. He gained experience over 7 ½ years in a rural general practice and country hospital. In 1998 he achieved the RACGP fellowship.
In 2002 he moved to Toowoomba working there for 5 years in General Practice with visiting rights to both St Andrew’s and St Vincent’s Hospitals.
In response to family requirements he moved back to Brisbane in 2007. Since then he has worked at Kenmore, Jindalee and Murrumba Downs.
He remains in General Practice and started at Aspley Medical Centre in October 2014.
Dr Burns is interested in complex medical problems including diabetes and asthma, paediatrics, minor procedures, skin cancer and allergies. Dr Burns is also experienced in Vasectomy procedures.
He enjoys providing comprehensive care with both acute and preventative needs a priority, in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
