Richard Baer is a Staff Nephrologist at Cairns Base Hospital, and is dual trained as a nephrologist and general physician. He studied medicine at UQ after completing a pharmacy degree. He has since also completed a Master of Public Health and Tropical Medicine with JCU. Apart from general nephrology, he has interests in interventional nephrology, medication management, e-health and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health (he also attends clinics at Wuchopperen Aboriginal Medical Service, Cairns). Professional positions include being an Associate Professor with Griffith, Director of Physician Education with the RACP for Logan Hospital, Co-Chair of the Statewide Renal Clinical network (Queensland Health) and the past chair of ANZSIN (ANZ Special interest group in Interventional Nephrology).
