After graduating in Medicine from the University of Melbourne in 1985, I initially trained in General Practice at the Box Hill Hospital. Components of this included the Diploma in Obstetrics and the Diploma in Anaesthetics (UK). This latter rotation sparked an interest in Anaesthesia and, on returning to Australia, I joined the St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne Anaesthetic training program. In my final year I completed a fellowship year at Massachusett's General Hospital, Boston and subsequently qualified as a Specialist Anaesthetist in 1996. I served as a staff specialist at St Vincent's and Geelong Hospitals for 5 years.

In 2001 I entered private practice joining the Geelong Anaesthetic Group where I currently serve as the Chairman. I have a special interest in Cardiothoracic Anaesthesia and hold certification in Perioperative Transoesophageal Echocardiography. I am currently a supervisor of final year medical students from Deakin University Medical school.

Outside of medicine, I enjoy active adventurous holidays with my wife including family cycling tours, bush walking, camping and scuba diving. I volunteer annually for a charity aiding cataract and eye surgery in Vietnam and Cambodia.
