Michael is a General Practitioner at Windsor in NSW, where he has practised since 1997. He has been a GP for over thirty years, and currently works part-time as a GP. His interests span the full spectrum of General Practice, and he has proudly served up to five generations of family members as their GP in his time at Windsor.

Michael has been active in many and various roles in support of his profession throughout his career, including with the RACGP, Monash and Newcastle Universities, Hawkesbury-Hills Division of General Practice, WentWest Regional (GP) Training Provider (WWRTP), Western Sydney Medicare Local / Primary Health Network (WSML/WSPHN), Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD) and Nepean Blue Mountains Primary Health Network (NBMPHN).

In recognition of his extensive work across 30 years in support of his profession, in October 2014 he was named the 2014 RACGP GP of the Year.

He is currently the Clinical Lead for the NSW Health Western Sydney Integrated Care Program. This program is a partnership between WSLHD and WSPHN, which is developing innovative ways to better integrate the primary and secondary care provided to patients in western Sydney with chronic disease. He is also a Digital Health Lead Advisor for NBMPHN.

His roles and interest over time have been in eHealth, clinical computerisation, immunisation, medical education, vaccine safety and integrated care. His first appointment was as the RACGP Inaugural Computer Fellow in 1987, and since that time he has championed the use of clinical computer systems for the management of patient and practice records.

Until 2014, he was the Clinical Director at WSML and WWRTP in Blacktown, NSW, where he has been actively involved in training and support of General Practitioners. His major tasks were Director of Training, Clinical Lead for HealthPathways, Clinical Governance Lead and Clinical Adviser for LinkedEHR. In these roles, he has been involved with WSML’s development and implementation of a suite of online tools in support of better shared patient care.

Until December 2014, he was also the General Practice member of the TGA’s Advisory Committee on the Safety of Vaccines (ACSOV), and until March 2014, he was the RACGP representative on the Australian Federal Department of Health and Ageing National Immunisation Committee and related committees.
