"Having grown up in Maitland, I went to Newcastle University of Newcastle and finished the medical degree in 1983. I then had further training at Royal North Hospital and Concord Repatriation General Hospital before entering General Practice in Tamworth in the latter half of 1986. In 1988, I was appointed as Visiting Medical Officer in General Practice at Tamworth Base Hospital and became a Fellow of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine in 2000, when the College was formed. From 1995 to 2000, I had been a Supervisor for GP Registrar Training and from 2000 - 2002, I was a Mentor in the GP Registrar Training Programme. I had been involved in Medical Student Clinical Attachments since 1996. I have a special interest in prevention of chronic diseases and conditions associated with aging by emphasising the correct lifestyle choices. I am a member of the Australian Lifestyle Medicine Association. My passions include fitness and have completed six 111km kayak marathons with many more planned for the future."
