Dr Tuohey completed his undergraduate medical studies at Melbourne University in 2009 after previously working for 10 years as a software engineer. He went on to do his internship and another one and half years of training as a resident medical officer at Ballarat Base Hospital. This included one year in obstetrics and gynaecology and three months in paediatrics. Dr Tuohey decided to enter general practice training in 2012 because it provides exposure to virtually all areas of medicine as well as enabling a closer relationship and understanding of patients not really seen in other specialties. His passions are paediatrics, women’s health and antenatal care.
Outside of work, he is a very busy husband and dad to five sons. He enjoys running, working out in the gym and is a passionate supporter and member of the Collingwood Football Club. Along with his wife Dr Kim Tuohey, he has recently started caring for foster children which brings many challenges but also much enjoyment and satisfaction.
