Dr Paul Spizzo (Gastroenterologist)

Dr Paul Spizzo is a consultant gastroenterologist at Flinders Medical Centre and Tennyson Centre. He has a special interest in Inflammatory Bowel Disease. Dr Spizzo was born and raised in Adelaide. He graduated from medicine at the University of Adelaide in 2008. He trained in Gastroenterology at Flinders Medical Centre and was awarded his Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of Physicians in 2015. He completed a 3 year Fellowship with the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Unit at St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne and undertook a PhD in collaboration with the University of Melbourne. The focus of his PhD was analyzing disease progression and patient outcomes in Inflammatory Bowel Disease. Apart from Inflammatory Bowel Disease, his other interests are general gastroenterology including endoscopy and colonoscopy, bowel cancer prevention, coeliac disease and irritable bowel syndrome. Dr Spizzo is a staff specialist gastroenterologist at Flinders Medical Centre. He also consults and performs endoscopic procedures at the Tennyson Centre and Flinders Private Hospital.
