Paul is a medical graduate of the University of Melbourne and completed his cardiology training at the Alfred Hospital. Paul was a Cardiology Fellow of the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, Cleveland, Ohio, USA. At the Cleveland Clinic, Paul undertook a two year training fellowship in the field of Echocardiography and on his return to Australia introduced the technique of Transoesophageal Echocardiography and set-up Intra-operative Echocardiography which was fundamental to the initiation of mitral valve repair reconstructive surgery. Paul is actively involved in all areas of echocardiography including transoesophageal echo, intra-operative echo and stress echocardiography. He has major interests in heart failure, the diabetic heart and congenital heart disease. Paul is Medical Director of the Non-Invasive Cardiac Unit at Epworth Hospital and Director of Echocardiography at Austin Health.
