Dr Pascal Mancuso (Urologist)
Dr Pascal Mancuso is a Urological Surgeon with consulting rooms in Campbelltown, Liverpool and Bowral. He attained his medical degree at The University of New South Wales and graduated with Honours representing Academic Excellence. After years of rigorous and comprehensive urological training undertaken in both Australia and England, Dr Mancuso has now sharpened his focus and specializes in Robotic surgery for Prostate and Kidney Cancer, as well as minimally invasive treatment options for Prostatic Enlargement and Kidney Stones.
Dr Mancuso offers surgery for his patients at Campbelltown Public and Private Hospitals, Liverpool Public and Private Hospitals, Southern Highlands Private Hospital and the Chris O’Brien Lifehouse.
As the Head of the Urology Department at Liverpool Hospital, Dr Mancuso prides himself on promoting a department that is at the leading edge of research and technology. Since commencing the Head of Department role in 2015, Dr Mancuso has been integral in the commencement of Robotic Surgery at the Hospital for Prostate and Kidney Cancer. Indeed he is one of only a select group of Urologists who have been credentialed to offer Robotic Surgery at the hospital. Dr Mancuso was also actively involved in the planning and presentation of the Liverpool Hospital Robotics Summit where he was chosen to undertake Live Surgery with his Nerve Sparing Robotic Prostatectomy televised live to the Auditorium and observed by over 100 doctors, nurses and students.
Whilst surgery forms a major part of Dr Mancuso's practice, he is also active in research especially for Prostate Cancer. Dr Mancuso has been published in national and international journals and he has also presented his research at conferences both locally and internationally. In 2019, Dr Mancuso was part of the team that won the SWSLHD Quality Award for their Prostate Cancer research. Dr Mancuso is also currently the Principal Investigator at Liverpool Hospital in a Multi-centre Research Project looking at the best surgical technique for undertaking Robotic Kidney Surgery.
In addition to being heavily involved in research, Dr Mancuso is also a very keen teacher. He is a Conjoint Lecturer with the University of New South Wales. Dr Mancuso is active in teaching Medical Students as well as Urology Trainees. His main focus is teaching his techniques for preservation of sexual and continence function with Robotic Prostate Cancer Surgery and Kidney preservation in Robotic Kidney Cancer surgery to the next generation of surgeons. Dr Mancuso is also an accredited Proctor for the da Vinci Robot meaning that he is able to mentor Registrars and fellow Urologists so that they are able to safely learn Robotic Surgery and institute it into their practice.
Whilst Dr Mancuso focuses on the delivery of the most up-to-date surgical treatments for a variety of Urological conditions, he is acutely aware that any visit to see a specialist can be stressful, especially if surgery is being planned. He ensures that he conducts his consultations with empathy and with the dignity and concerns of his patients utmost in mind.
Dr Mancuso focuses on communicating effectively to ensure that his patients have a complete understanding of their urological condition and the options available for them. Dr Mancuso is always happy to take on the wishes of his patients and their families to ensure that any treatment decisions are agreed upon. With this as his practice ethos, he ensures that patients receive the best possible care with the confidence that they have been informed and actively involved in the decision making process whilst having the most up-to-date treatment options available to them.
