Dr Nikolaus Hammerl undertook his medical training in Germany, and practiced from 1982-2006 in a number of hospitals across the country. In early 2006 he moved to Australia where he was appointed as a Visiting Medical Officer at Wimmera Base Hospital in Horsham, Victoria.
He received his Royal Australasian College of Physicians Fellowship in September 2007, following which he moved to the Sunshine Coast where he commenced practice at Noosa Hospital as a Visiting Medical Officer. After four years at Noosa, Dr Hammerl commenced practice at Caloundra Private Hospital, where his main focus was inpatient care for medical patients as well as consulting for surgical patients. Dr Hammerl also had a private practice at Caloundra.
His special interests are managing patients with complex medical problems, both in inpatient and outpatient settings.
Dr Hammerl is fluent in English, German and French.
