Associate Professor Nicholas Gray is a Nephrologist, initially graduating from the University of Adelaide and completing his training in Queensland, Northern Territory, and South Australia. His areas of research interest include rural health, chronic kidney disease and haemodialysis, particularly long hour dialysis. He is currently a member of the steering committee of the largest randomised trial of long versus standard hour haemodialysis to be undertaken, and is chief investigator for a sub-study of carers of these dialysis patients.
He is a member of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians Specialist Advisory Committee for Nephrology Trainees, co-chair of the Queensland Statewide Renal Clinical Network, a member of the Australian and New Zealand Society of Nephrology Scientific Program and Education Committee and a member of the Australia and New Zealand Dialysis and Transplant Registry Steering Committee.
Associate Professor Gray hopes that his work will hasten the transition of the Sunshine Coast from a service delivery health provider to a University Teaching Hospital. He has led the development of a Research Committee for the SCHHS, and now chairs that group.
