Dr Monika Hasnat (Paediatrician)

Dr Monika Hasnat has broad interests in Paediatric Rehabilitation and sees children and young people with a wide range of differences in function or disability. Monika is experienced in physical management of children with cerebral palsy, including assessment of muscle tone and movements, administration of botulinum toxin injections, and assessing children for interventions such as selective dorsal rhizotomy and intrathecal baclofen.

Monika also has an interest in the rehabilitation care of children with spinal cord injury and disease, neurological and neuromuscular conditions, acquired brain injury and limb deficiency.

Monika enjoys working together with children, their families, schools and allied health professionals (such as physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech pathologists and psychologists) to maximise the functional capacities of each individual.

BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE Monika is a consultant Paediatric Rehabilitation Specialist, on staff at the Victorian Paediatric Rehabilitation Service (VPRS) at Royal Children’s Hospital for over 5 years. She also consults for VPRS at Goulburn Valley Health, Shepparton.

Monika completed her medical degree at Monash University and most of her general paediatric and paediatric rehabilitation training at the Royal Children’s Hospital. Monika also undertook some paediatric rehabilitation training at Queensland Paediatric Rehabilitaton Service in Brisbane. RESEARCH INTERESTS Monika’s main research interest is in the management of spasticity.
